Rise above life's challenges & thrive

About Nevmah Morris

the story so far

I could probably write about most things, yet I find myself reluctant to write about myself.  Not an easy thing to do, to reveal your personal thoughts and feelings to the world, so I guess a good place to start, and probably the most important, is my purpose for why I write and also the need for this beautiful website. It brings to you my books so that I can encourage people to share precious moments together.

The reason I do this is for the 5 beautiful girls I am raising.

To be a role model to them to show them that not only can you be a wife, mother, go to work, but that it’s important to maintain your own identity and not be too busy to lose my own interests and hobbies whilst taking care of many other people. Writing stories is time for ‘me’.

So many people ask me how I have the time.  My day’s duties usually run from 7am – 9pm and once all the day’s responsibilities have been completed I find the time to do a little something at the end of each day, even if it’s just for 15 minutes.  I write a page, I research, I explore pathways and I always try to do ‘something’ that contributes towards my work as an author.

Why Now?

I am a Cancer survivor.  I do not like saying the word or to give C its title.  I will no longer give it a platform to rule and take control.  It controlled my life for 13 months of active treatment, told me what I could and couldn’t do, but that is a story for another day.

My logo includes the dandelion fuzz – we have a family tradition that when we find a dandelion we blow the dandelion ‘clock’ and work out the time – I’ve since discovered its meaning.  The dandelion is able to thrive in difficult conditions; people say it symbolizes the ability to rise above life’s challenges.  How apt I thought.

I believe you’re not defined by your circumstances, C did not define me.  I will choose my own story. My Heavenly Father never left my side and was with me throughout the storm.  I will leave a legacy for each of my children.  My aim is to dedicate a book to each of them so they will have our memories forever captured and preserved.

I’ve thought about writing stories for many years.  Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, we are only given today.  Why wait?  Take one step towards your goal and make it happen.

Before this…

I was born in Walsall in 1981 and lived in Staffordshire during my childhood years.  During my teenage years my family moved to the West Midlands.  I moved to Wrexham, North Wales in 2000.  I grew up with 5 boisterous brothers – they still are – I think men remain boys for life.

North Wales is indeed a very beautiful part of the world and a wonderful place to raise children so needless to say I still reside in Wales and in 2015 moved to Flintshire.  My husband and I have 5 beautiful, independent, daughters who range in age from 2 – 15 years old and we fill our days making memories.

I was a Primary School teacher for 13 years, but with my husband and I having two busy careers and a large family, it was important for us to get work and home life in balance. Therefore I joined my husband in our family business as Funeral Directors.  It is certainly a very different career for me compared with teaching.  I loved the days I spent in a classroom encouraging dreams, ambition and strength of character and it’s lovely that in my career now I continue to meet wonderful people, all with their own story to tell, memories of adventures and history of their life, excitement and humour, tragedy and longing.  True testimonies that show me if you can capture those moments then the wonder will always be preserved.
